The team signed rookie defensive back Elijah Mitchell, while waiving center Jack Allen,  with an injury designation.

The 5-foot-8, 180-pound Mitchell played his college football at Nevada, where he appeared in 48 career games, accumulating 108 tackles, including 83 solo stops, to go along with two interceptions, 16 passes defensed, and a fumble recovery.

A native of Corona, California, Mitchell totaled 1,512 kickoff returns yards, while recording one touchdown, on 62 attempts..

The 24-year old Allen, who played his college football at Michigan St., joined the Saints in 2016 as an undrafted free agent, following the 2016 NFL Draft.

A native of Hinsdale, Illinois, Allen spent most of 2016 on the Saints practice squad, prior to joining the active roster in December.
