Saints Sign Inside Linebacker Manti Te’o
Free agent inside linebacker Manti Te'o has agreed to a two year contract with the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN's Mike Triplett.
Te'o spent his first four NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers, earning play calling duties and co-captain honors.
With good football instincts and great tackling, Te'o is an above average NFL linebacker when healthy. His issue has been staying healthy.
Te'o has missed 26 games the last 4 years and has never played a full 16 game NFL season. Last season, he was placed on IR after week 3 when he suffered a torn Achilles.
At 26 years old, the former All-American at Notre Dame could potentially booster and Saints linebacking unit that has struggled.
Te'o played under Saints linebackers coach Mike Nolan in San Diego in 2015, his best statistical season.
Te'o is the second linebacker New Orleans has signed this offseason. Former Panther AJ Klein agreed to a 3 year $15 million deal with the Saints on March 9th.
