The New Orleans Saints made a move to bolster their defense on Wednesday, signing defensive end/outside linebacker Paul Kruger to a one-year deal.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

A native of Rexburg, Idaho, Kruger played his college football at Utah, before being selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Kruger played four years in Baltimore, mostly as a reserve, compiling 49 tackles, including 15.5 sacks.

Kruger moved on to the Cleland Browns in time for the 2013 season, where he was a starter at linebacker for his first two seasons there, including 2014, when he racked-up a career-high 11 sacks.

Last season, as a reserve, Kruger totaled 16 tackles, including 2.5 sacks.

In 7 NFL seasons, Kruger has appeared in 99 games, including 53 as a starter, compiling 127 tackles, including 33.5 sacks.

Kruger's signing puts the Saints current roster at 75. To reach that number with the Kruger signing, they cut 16 players yesterday. See the list of cuts here.
