The New Orleans Saints suffered a big blow to their defense when outside linebacker Victor Butler suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament at Tuesday's practice after a collision with running back Mark Ingram.

Butler was in line to be the featured pass rusher in the Saints' new 3-4 defense under new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who coached Butler while with the Dallas Cowboys.
