With all eyes on the Gulf of Mexico this week, citizens in Acadiana are preparing for a possible storm and flooding in the area.

Here's where you can get sandbags as we continue to await a more accurate storm track from those in the weather lab.

Broussard

The City of Broussard will self serve sand and bags at the location on Polk St. behind City Hall. There will also be bags and sand at the locations on Broadview Dr., near the Community Center and on Deer Meadow Blvd.

Lafayette Parish

North District sandbagging is located at 400 N Dugas Road (located off North   University Ave.)

The Blackham Coliseum on Johnston St.

South District sandbags will be available at 1017 Fortune Road in Youngsville.

Residents should bring their own shovel and prepare to bag their own sandbags, which are provided on site. Please limit yourself to four bags per household entry and do not take more than 20 bags per home.

Evangeline Parish

Residents in Ville Platte can get sandbags at the City Barn on Hickory St. Those outside the city limits can get sandbags at the Police Jury site.

Iberia Parish

Shovels will not be provided, and residents should be prepared to fill their own sandbags.

  • Woodlawn Fire Station
  • Welsh Police Jury Yard across from Welsh Community Center
  • Hathaway Fire Station on Hwy 102
  • Fenton Police Jury Yard on Estes Road
  • Lacassine Fire Station on Ann Street

Sandbags will available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

St. Landry Parish

Available at the Yambilee building in Opelousas. Sand and bags are available from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. this week.

Residents are reminded to bring their own shovels and should prepare to bag the sandbags themselves. Bags will be available on site.

Those in Eunice can get sandbags at The Northwest Community Center Pavilion at 651 Samuel Dr. Citizens should bring their own shovel to the site.

St. Martin Parish

Sand bags will be available for residents of upper St. Martin Parish beginning Tuesday, June 20, 2017, from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. until further notice at the following locations:

Ruth Bridge Barn-Ruth Bridge

St. Mary Parish

Sandbags are available at the parish barns. The are located on Hwy 182 in Garden City on the Franklin side and on Hwy 182 by the water tower in Bayou Vista.

We will continue to add locations for sandbags as we receive them in the days ahead. Remember, if you've ever flooded in previous storms or live in a low lying area it is always better to prepare early.

For residents in Franklin, sand bags for Franklin residents are available at the Public Works Complex, 1300 Iberia Street.

For those of you in Maurice, sand and bags are available at the City Hall. You must have proof of residency to obtain their bags.  There will be a limit of eight bags per household.  For those elderly and/or disabled please check with City Hall for filled bags.
