This week on "Wingin' It Wednesday", panelist Carol Ross, Mike Stagg, and Warren Caudle joined "Nathan and Bernie in the Morning" to discuss the major shakeup to the Lafayette Parish School Board with the results of Tuesday's elections as well as the upcoming Senate runoff between Mary Landrieu and Bill Cassidy.

Here's what the panel had to say:

1. There will be many new faces on the Lafayette Parish School Board this January. Your thoughts?

Carol Ross started us off:

It was three and three in terms of the chamber. Three of the people they supported big time lost.  Mr. Cooper will probably not be resting easy. The three candidates that did win probably would have won anyway. They were outstanding candidates.
It is going to be a wash. The balance of power is about the same, which does not bode well for solving any problems. Six of the nine seats will change.

Warren Caudle posited:

I don’t know about the balance of power. I will say the school board needed to be shaken up, and thank God it has changed. I don’t know who will vote with whom, but you do have some common sense, educated people in there. I think you’re going to find some people who will actually ask some questions. I think this will be an improvement.

Mike Stagg added:

If those three chamber backed candidates are publicly supporting Pat Cooper, they did not make that public while they were running.
Cooper needs to find a graceful way out, and the chamber needs to stand down on this. They need to let the board act as a board. The new board won’t take office until January, and the best possible solution is that Superintendent Cooper will be gone by then.

2. The results of the Senate race.  How ugly will the run-off be?

Mike started us off:

It’s not a surprise to anyone. In a December runoff, the stakes aren’t as high this time, the balance of the Senate isn’t in play. It should be an interesting race. It should be interesting to see if Mary comes home in terms of her politics.

Warren posited:

I think Landrieu is finished. She’s basically a dinosaur politically.
The only saving thing I think Landrieu can do-- she has to say there’s no difference between her and Cassidy. The big difference is that Cassidy wants to put sanctions on Venezuela that will hurt jobs in Louisiana. She won’t do that. She’ll say vote for me because I’m a Democrat, and that’s not going to fly.

Carol concluded:

If you watched any television at all this weekend, it was four to one Harry Reid’s pac trashing Bill Cassidy. They smeared him one way and the other. He still did really well.
The people I have spoken to who have supported Rob Maness understand we have to get Mary out of there.
