If schools are to improve in Lafayette Parish, the Community Education Plan Committee says that the Lafayette Parish School System will need an infusion of millions of dollars over the next several years.

Besides using funds that are in reserve, the only option would be for the system to ask voters for more money in the form of higher sales taxes, property taxes or both.

The Community Education Plan Committee is expected to make their recommendations by the end of the year to the board.

The board would then need to agree and send any measures for funding to the voters.
