Scott Man Gets Hefty Sentence In Disability Scam

Yesterday 51 year old William Joseph Folse of Scott was sentenced to 12 months in prison, three years supervised release and ordered to pay nearly $200,000 in restitution.

According to evidence presented at his guilty plea, Folse applied for total disability in the 1990's due to a slip and fall. At the time of being granted benefits Folse signed documents saying he would report any change in status including any work. Investigators determined that Folse worked at a Lafayette restaurant since 1998 earning more than $12,000 a year plus tips.

The Social Security Administration estimates Folse received $199,007.00 in fraudulent benefits.
