LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- A Scott man pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to defrauding the Social Security Administration to the tune of $200,000.

According to U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley, 51-year-old William Folse, Jr., failed to let officials with Social Security know when he was able to return to work.

Folse applied for disability benefits in the 1990s for a slip and fall accident. He returned to work in 1998, but he continued to collect benefits and received $199,007 in improper benefits.

Folse will face a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, restitution, and three years of supervised release.
