SCOTT, La. (AP) — Despite rainy weather over the weekend, officials at the second annual Boudin (booh-dahn) Festival in the town of Scott say the event was a success.

The Advertiser of Lafayette reports that Scott Mayor Purvis Morrison estimates 10,000 attended the festival, which began Friday evening and continued through the weekend.

Morrison said it was good for the town to have a culturally based celebration, like so many other towns in Acadiana have, that can draw in local and out-of-state tourists.

Morrison said that he and the festival board — as well as 200 event volunteers — had eyed the weather nervously all week.
