Scott Middle School Student Hit By Truck

A middle school student getting away with just a few scratches after being hit by a truck this morning.

Scott Police were called out to the intersection of Cameron and Alfred Streets where they say Gabriel Laverne was hit.

Witnesses say Gabriel tried to cross the street, thinking traffic was stopped, but he didn't realize cars were turning from Alfred Street. The truck hit him in the leg and dragged him for almost 12 feet.

He was treated and released from Women's and Children's.

No word on whether the driver of the truck, Mark Turner, was ticketed.
