Scott Police Arrest Man On Simple Battery Charges And Woman For Theft
Scott Police were called out to the Family Dollar Store on Cameron Street last night after a reported theft at the store.
Bonita Hendrix was arrested for theft, and Desmond Woods was arrested on an Acadia Parish warrant along with other charges.
Police were investigating a reported shoplifting at the store, when they were verifying the occupants of the vehicle that Hendrix was in. Police says Woods gave officers multiple pieces of information about his identity. Police say Woods gave officers a false name because he knew he was wanted on an active arrest warrant.
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed that Woods was wanted on a simple battery. After Woods was placed under arrest, Scott Police officers conducted a search of his clothing and found a zip lock bag with suspected crack cocaine inside in his left pant leg.
Officers say the substance in the bag was placed in a field test vial and tested positive for cocaine.
Woods was booked on charges of
Resisting an officer by information
Possession of a schedule II narcotic
Simple battery
Woods was incarcerated in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
