Scott Police Chief Chad Leger says they have arrested 20-year-old Roy Andrus Jr. on a variety of charges after they say he and three juveniles committed various crimes in the city Sunday.

Police were investigating after three cars were stolen, there were two vehicle burglaries, criminal damage to property and a criminal trespassing complaint.

Police allege that Andrus and the three juveniles went to an address on Kossuth Road were they removed money and a wireless entry remote from two vehicles.

They say the suspects then took off in a 2010 Ford F-150 truck where it was driving off the road on Heidi Circle.  The truck was heavily damaged.

Police say the suspects then went to BFI on Mire Street and took off in two other pickups causing damages to the trucks and the locked gate.

Those trucks were then also taken to Heidi Circle, driven off the road, and then they were both stuck in the mud.

Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office detectives, Scott Police and Carencro Police conducted a joint interrogation of Andrus and the juveniles.  Police say they eventually admitted to the crimes.

Andrus was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, while the juveniles were booked into the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Center.

They face charges of:

  • Two Counts of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
  • Criminal Trespass
  • Simple Criminal
  • Damage to Property
