A Sulphur man who was wanted for stealing a safe from a Scott residence is now behind bars in the Lafayette Parish jail.

According to Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office arrest records, James D. Runte was arrested Friday by the Scott Police Department. Runte, and his 26-year-old accomplice, Kylie M. Payne, were wanted for felony burglary after allegedly breaking into an Acadiana residence and stealing a safe with a large amount of cash on April 14.

Less than 24 hours after KPEL posted Scott Police Chief Chad Leger's message regarding the two fugitives, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office reported Runte's arrest.

As of Saturday morning, no reports of Payne's arrest have been made. If you have any information on Payne's whereabouts, you are asked to contact the Scott Police Department at (337) 233-3715.
