Two people accused of scamming people across Lafayette Parish have now been identified. But they still need to be caught.

Scott Police Chief Chad Leger says 24-year-old Stephanie Sylvester and 35-year-old Travis Calais, both of Breaux Bridge, allegedly created a fraudulent company on Instagram and have been soliciting victims to send them money through Western Union. They’ve been able to take money from victims in multiple ways:

  • by promising to send victims products they paid for, then ending contact with them once they took their money
  • by telling fake stories to people in parking lots such as not having enough money for food or a flat tire, then continuing to beg for more to cover other costs

If you have any more information, call Scott Police at (337) 889-5105 or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.
