Shortly after midnight today off-duty Scott Police officers working a security detail outside of Margarita's Mexican Restaurant were told a man was spotted sniffing a white powder in the men's room. 24 year old Alfredo Lopez-Hortelano of Church Point was identified and was observed shortly after in the parking lot where he threw a small, folded,piece of white paper. Officers retrieved the paper and discovered a small amount of white powder.

During investigation Lopez-Hortelano was found to have three small packages containing white powder in his pants pockets. A field test indicated the powder was cocaine. Lopez-Hortelano was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and charged with possession of cocaine.
