Scott Police Want Suspect For Robbery Last Year

Chris Merridith

The Scott Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a man they say is the suspect in last year’s robbery of the Family Dollar Store at 5600 Cameron. Stree.

Police are seeking 36-year-old Chris Merridith.

On February 12, 2011, Scott City Police were called out to the  Family Dollar Store after a call was made about an armed robbery.

They employee said a man came into the store and started placing items on the counter.  When the clerk started ringing things up the man told the clerk he wanted all the money in the register.

He told her if she did not comply he would shoot her. The employee handed over the money, and the suspect fled the scene on foot and was not found by police.

Investigators with the Scott Police department processed the crime scene, and they were notified this month that a hit had come in on the case.

The Acadiana Crime Lab says a DNA profile was obtained from the evidence at the scene, and it matched Chris Meredith.

If anyone knows of his whereabouts, please contact the Scott Police Department at 233-3715 or your local police department.
