The school board in Rapides Parish is even going as far as thinking about hiring a liaison from an independent firm to help with the search.

The replacement of Superintendent Gary Jones hasn't quite happened yet, but the board is working to make it so. One of the items on the board's agenda during Thursday's meeting was to send a vote to the next meeting dealing with the hiring of the liaison.

Jones' contract ends at the end of the year and he board voted in May to not extend it. The board also voted to end the district director of technology position.

The duties of that position are now picked up by assistant superintendent of administration, Bill Morrison.
