The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office along with the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force and other local law enforcement were able to apprehend Carl J. Phillips.  He is the man police allege shot and killed a man on Goldman Street back in July.

The S.W.A.T. and other officers converged on a trailer house in Cankton where they were able to arrest him on the charge of second degree murder.

Police says Phillips, 610 Goldman Street, was hiding out from authorities at the Cankton home.

Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said, “Carl J. Phillips was then transported to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, booked as a fugitive from Lafayette, and then transported to the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office for booking.”

“I would like to take this time to thank all of the aforementioned law enforcement agencies for their participation and competent assistance while engaged in this hazardous arrest,” Guidroz added.
