A ' Kreutz sungrazer' is a comet taken very close to or right into the sun as it travels through space. These comets are believed to be fragments of other comets that broke off thousands of years ago.

The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory captured video of a sungrazer colliding with the sun at an amazing 1.3 millions miles per hour. Scientists say this comet was the fastest object in the solar system before its collision with the sun.
