Senate Passes Legislation For Survivor Benefits

Legislation aimed at assisting the families of two Department of Insurance investigators shot dead last week in Ville Platte passes the state Senate.  Senator Eric Lafleur's bill provides a quarter-million death benefit to the spouses of agents Kim Sledge and Rhett Jeansonne. It passed unanimously and goes over to the House for committee assignment.
