U.S. Senator David Vitter has once again taken up the fight against Obamacare exemptions for his Washington constituents. Vitter has reintroduced his amendment that would require all members of Congress, all Congressional staff, the President, Vice President and all political appointees in the administration to purchase their health insurance on the Obamacare Exchange.

Washington elites have carved out a special exemption and subsidy for themselves.

The bill would also prohibit lawmakers from receiving financial support from subsidies and tax credits as all other Americans outside of Capitol Hill.

Currently, lawmakers must get their insurance through the exchange, but are allowed to apply for subsidies, something Vitter would like to change.

“Americans are struggling with the ongoing Obamacare train wreck every day. They’re losing the coverage they liked, seeing their premiums skyrocket, and finding it hard to enroll in anything new,” said Vitter. “What makes it worse is that while all this is going on, Washington elites have carved out a special exemption and subsidy for themselves.”
