US Senator David Vitter visited 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today and discussed his candidacy for Governor in the 2016 elections.

When asked if he was ready to leave Washington and get back home to Louisiana Vitter replied,

I look forward to that but on a more substantive level I just think the challenges and opportunities for our next governor are much great here so I'm really about the challenges and opportunities.

We asked Senator Vitter to define the challenges and opportunities of which he was speaking and he said,

I think we face enormous potential but to really reach that full potential we need to meet head-on some of core challenges.   That starts with education, grades K through 12 and higher ed.  Giving all of our kids the skills and opportunities to fulfill their dreams.  That's directly related to economic development and job growth.  Making Louisiana even more job friendly...We need budget stability and I think you get there through real tax reform and spending reform.

In closing we asked Senator Vitter how he would handle questions about the sex scandal that plagued him 2007?  According to Vitter,

It's a free country so anybody in the race or others can talk about whatever they want.  What I'm going to focus on is our future here in Louisiana.  The real significant challenges we need to meet head-on.  How we do that with boldness and clarity, I think that's what voters want to hear about.
