Today, we celebrate women in the workplace for National Business Women's Day. According to the website holidayinsights.com, National Business Women's Day recognizes the value a contributions of women in the business world.

The roots of this special day go back to the late 1940s. While men were off fighting World War II, women filled the void in the workforce. The returning soldiers found the women eager to have their men return. But, many women were not anxious to return to traditional roles in the home. Since this time, women's role and contributions in the workforce have grown and evolved.

Turns out, YouTube is a treasure trove of old government education videos that in this day in age would be deemed downright offensive. We found some of the most ridiculous government sponsored videos from the 40s and 50s as women we're following their passion into the workplace after World War II.

With titles such as "The Trouble With Women" and "Supervising Women In The Workplace" aimed to educate skittish men about how to deal with women in the workplace and as equals.

Despite how insane the subject and actors in the movie seem today, it is quite the depiction of how far we have come in society. Thanks to all the hard-working women all over Acadiana for switching on KPEL! We hear you!
