The roller coaster ride that is Lousiana weather will continue through the weekend. We will start with slightly above normal temperatures today and Saturday. Saturday night is when forecasters believe that the thrill of Mother Nature's design will hit the breathtaking part.

The Storm Prediction Center has put the entire state in the bullseye for a marginal to slight risk of strong storms from Saturday afternoon through early Sunday. Then more Christmaslike temperatures will return to the state as the showers end on Sunday.

A strong cold front is the reason for the concern from the National Weather Service. This system is expected to provide the ingredients for storms that produce heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and strong gusty winds. Some of those straight line winds in the some of the storms could cause minor damage.

Behind the front temperatures are expected to plummet from Saturday high readings in the mid to upper 60's to the mid to lower 40's across the state. As of now the threat of rotating storms, tornadoes, appears to be minimal but forecasters won't rule out that risk and the forecast will be fine tuned over the next 12 to 24 hours.
