Sex Offender Arrested At Halloween Event
MARKSVILLE, La. (AP) — A Simmesport man has been arrested for violating his contract as a registered sex offender by participating in Halloween activities.
The Town Talk reports 49-year-old Bryant Washington was booked Wednesday with sex offender violation and failure to provide a proper identification card.
Avoyelles Parish sheriff's deputies observed Washington handing out candy to children and assisting in the operation of a haunted house in Simmesport.
Washington was convicted of oral sexual battery in 1995.
Sheriff Doug Anderson said all sex offenders must sign a sex offender contract, which includes an agreement not to participate in wearing hoods, mask or a disguise of any kind on Halloween, Mardi Gras, Easter, Christmas, or any other holiday for which candy or other gifts are distributed to persons under the age of 18.
