Acadia Parish Sheriff's officials recently went on routine checks to make sure that local sex offenders were in compliance.

They arrested one man for failing to meet all of the requirements of the reporting protocol.

Officers with the Sex Offenders Unit arrested 55-year-old Marvin Sonnier of Crowley.

Sheriff K.P. Gibson says,

“These reviews are part of our quarterly checks to assure that sex offenders are complying with the requirements of release. Our personnel went to various areas of the parish and checked not only on the offenders but with neighbors as well. In all, 24 offenders have been reviewed as a result of this compliance check. All indications were that the offenders were in compliance with the exception of 1 offender”.

Sonnier is a Tier 2 offender which according to the Sheriff's Office requires the offender to register as a sex offender for at least 25 years, depending on their sentence. They are also required to report in person twice each year for a review process.

The Sheriff says that Sonnier did make his required visits. The man was booked  into the Acadia Parish Jail.
