Sharmeka Moffitt, Who Police Say Set Herself On Fire, Upgraded To Serious Condition
20-year-old Sharmeka Moffitt of Winnsboro has been in critical condition since she allegedly set herself on fire over three weeks ago.
Her condition has now been upgraded to serious as she continues to recover from the severe burns over much of her body at the LSU Hospital in Shreveport.
Louisiana State Police believe Moffitt set herself on fire using a cigarette lighter and charcoal fluid. Her DNA being was found on both. They also believe Moffitt herself wrote "KKK" and a racial slur on her own vehicle with toothpaste, then allegedly went on to say that she was attacked by a group of men in hoodies.
Her family has since apologized for what problems she may have caused.
