Sheriff Investigating Report Of Explosion At Nucor
CONVENT, La. (AP) — St. James Parish sheriff's deputies say they're investigating reports of an explosion at the Nucor iron plant near Convent.
Sheriff Willy Martin says the explosion occurred about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. He says authorities are investigating a fire and blast that apparently occurred at one of the large storage domes at the plant.
Martin says early responders noticed smoke and damage at the site, including damage to storage domes on the property.
There are no reports of any injuries.
