Shooting Of 13-Year-Old In Lafayette Parish Still Being Investigated
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left a 13-year-old boy in the hospital with a single gunshot wound.
The injury is not life threatening, but the victim was struck in the torso area.
The shooting was reported around 1:20 Wednesday morning in the 300 block of Calypso Lane just outside of Broussard.
The Sheriff's Office says the 13-year old victim had traveled to Lafayette from Baton Rouge with an adult relative to meet a juvenile female he met on Facebook.
Police say the three people were visiting in a car on Calypso just down the road from the friend’s home when a car pulled up behind the victim and gunshots began.
The two other people in the car were not injured.
