Shortfalls Found In Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Audit

An audit of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office revealed the sheriff had $115,000 of delinquent payroll tax liabilities for the 2015 fiscal year. The Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s office also reported Sheriff Eddie Soileau’s office owes more than $42,000 in delinquent contributions to the Sheriff’s Pension and Relief Fund. 

In the department’s 2014 audit, state auditor’s found more than $42,000 missing from financial statements. In total, the 2015 audit contained 21 findings—14 of which were repeated from 2014.
