The argument over national gun control took an interesting turn when a New York newspaper decided to publish the names and addresses of registered gun owners in two New York counties.

The "Journal News" published an interactive map on their website that represented the location of registered gun owners with a dot on a map. The interactive map displayed the names of the gun owners when the viewer hovered their mouse over the dot.

The Journal News acquired the names and addresses of the registered gun owners legally by submitting a freedom of information request.

The story has ignited outrage in disgruntled gun owners across the country claiming the Journal News has clearly invaded the privacy of the law abiding residents, however the Journal News maintains that they have not broken any laws, and they are currently working on creating a map for a third county.
