SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Parking rates at Shreveport Regional Airport are going up.

Beginning June 1, rates will increase by 50 cents per day at all three lots.

Airport Authority Chairman Bishop Lawrence Brandon tells The Times weekly rates in the long-term lot will no longer be offered. Shreveport was one of five airports in the country still offering weekly rates.

During peak travel times, weekly spaces forced overflow from long term into the short-term lot.

Brandon said a report by Unison Consulting showed Shreveport to have the lowest parking rates of 14 comparable airports.

The last rate increase for airport parking was in 2005.
