SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A Shreveport Police officer faces charges in connection with the theft of prescription medications.

The Times reports investigators received information in mid-March that a police officer was possibly involved in the theft of some prescription medication.

The theft supposedly happened while the suspected officer was working an off-duty job at Broadmoor Middle Laboratory School.

Detectives were notified of the complaint and began an investigation. Investigators obtained arrest warrants charging 44-year-old Kevin Perry with misdemeanor theft and malfeasance last week.

Perry, who joined the police department in November of 1990, has been on paid administrative leave since the allegations were brought forth on March 22.
