DERIDDER, La. (AP) — Authorities are waiting to see if skeletal remains found in Beauregard Parish are those of a Merryville man missing since September.

Joe Toler, Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman, tells the American Press the remains were sent to the LSU forensic lab for identification to see whether they are those of Adam Davis, who was last seen Sept. 16.

Toler says an arrowhead hunter found a skull Tuesday while searching a heavily wooded area west of Merryville that can only be reached by boat. That discovery led to other skeletal remains being found.

Toler says detectives were able to recover 98 percent of the skeleton. He says there was no evidence of foul play at the scene.
