Lafayette Police will be out in full force tonight to conduct an OWI checkpoint within the incorporated limits of Lafayette.

Police say the purpose is to check for impaired drivers that have been drinking or are under the influence of any other illegal substances.

Officers working this detail will respond with zero tolerance to any impaired driver.

The Lafayette Police Department reminds everyone that if you plan to drink, you need to designate a driver.

They point out that not doing so could mean serious jail time and financial issues.

The checkpoint starts at 9:00 p.m. tonight and will last until 3:00 o'clock tomorrow morning.
