After the recent outbreak, Listeria has people worrying about buying cantaloupe. The infection usually affects people with weakened immune systems. LSU agcenter spokeswoman Marlene Janes says to make sure to wash the fruit and try not to store it in the fridge for long periods of time and eating the cantaloupe is perfectly safe as long as these precautions are taken.
