BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Baton Rouge police say 29-year-Broderick Patterson has been booked in the fatal stabbing of his mother.

Police responded to the Turner Plaza apartment around 2 p.m. Thursday and found 52-year-old Luethel Patterson lying on the floor with multiple stab wounds.

Broderick Patterson was at the apartment when police arrived, and was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of second-degree murder.

The Advocate reports detectives have not yet determined a motive for the killing, and are not yet releasing the type of weapon used in the stabbing.

It was unclear whether Broderick Patterson has an attorney.
