Special Election Set In House District 79 To Fill Rep. Ligi’s Seat
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — State House Speaker Chuck Kleckley has set a March 2 special election to fill the expected vacancy in the House District 79 seat held by state Rep. Anthony Ligi (LEE' jee).
An April 6 runoff will be held, if necessary. The Advocate reports qualifying for the election will run from Jan. 9 through Jan. 11.
Ligi, R-Metairie, announced Friday that he is resigning his post on Jan. 1 to become executive director and chief legal counsel for the Jefferson Business Council.
