St. Landry Parish Spokeswoman Megan Vizena says the man considered to be a person of interest in the death of his wife Sandra Tillett, has now been charged with cruelty of the infirmed and unlawful disposal of remains.

Last December, Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said the missing woman’s husband, Arthur Tillett, showed investigators where his wife’s body was.

Tillett claimed during an initial interview that he had found his wife dead back in June.

64-year-old Sandra Tillett’s body was found underneath a shed in December.

At that time, Tillett was charged with obstructing justice and now Vizena says,

"Autopsy reports show the cause of Sandra Tillett's death as being undetermined. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible."

Arthur Tillett is currently being held in the St. Landry Parish Jail with no bond.

Deputies had started searching for Sandra Tillett on Saturday, December 14 after the woman's daughter called them saying she had not heard from her mother since June.

The sheriff says, at first, Arthur Tillett told deputies that his wife was visiting relatives outside of the state.
