The St. Landry Parish School Board voted at their meeting this week to transfer all students that currently attend Creswell Elementary to Park Vista Elementary for the next school year. (2013-2014)

The decision to move the 196 Creswell students to Park Vista comes as the Louisiana Department of Education earlier this year indicated that they would close Creswell due to poor performance.  The school's state test scores were rated academically unacceptable for four years in a row.

State performance scores at nearby Park Vista Elementary are higher.

So what will be done with the current Creswell facility?  Included in last night's decision is a move to convert the Creswell campus into a parish-wide accelerated recovery program for fifth-grade students who have failed or been held back for at least one year.
