St. Landry Parish School’s Declare “Unitary” Status

St. Landry Parish public school officials are celebrating today.  That's because the forty-two year old desegregation battle is over.  KPEL

News has learned Federal Judge Tucker Melancon signed the settlement late yesterday.  The school system can now declare unitary status.  That means they've met desegregation requirements and are no longer under federal control.
