The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office is hosting a TRIAD event in Eunice, a program that focuses on the elderly.

Sheriff's office spokesperson Capt. Megan Vizena said the event will be held today at the VFW Hall in Eunice starting at 9 a.m. until lunch. Vizena said food would be provided, and a live band would be playing as well.

The TRIAD events provide senior citizens an opportunity to meet with law enforcement, and it allows them to keep up to date with different topics from throughout the parish, and it also updates them on the latest scams affect them.

Vizena said elderly citizens are the "most vulnerable victims" when it comes to identity theft and contractor fraud.

"These are the kinds of situations that we just need to tell the public about," Vizena said.
