The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office is reporting the arrest of Deputy Michael Barber indecent behavior with a juvenile, among other charges.

According to St. Martin Sheriff's spokesperson Capt. Ginny Higgins, the sheriff's officce was contacted by St. Martin Parish School Board officials regarding barber, who was then placed on administrative leave. The Attorney General Office began the investigation into the alleged misconduct which led to Barber's arrest.

Barber, who formerly served as a school resource officer, resigned from the sheriff's office after a 15-year career prior to his arrest on one charge each of: attempted production of child pornography, indecent behavior with a juvenile and malfeasance in office.

He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on a $40,000 bond.
