The St. Martin Parish School Board was facing a $4.6 million shortfall for the coming year but a recalculation of the Minimum Foundation Program has resulted in the system getting an extra $968,000.  In addition last night the board voted to eliminate 16 teachers, two French immersion program teachers, cut two positions from the central office staff and cut the school operating funds by $1 million.
