St. Martinville Man In Critical Condition After Early Morning Crash

ST. MARTINVILLE — Shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, two St. Martinville men were involved in a single vehicle crash on Duchamp Road in St. Martinville.

When deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene, they located two male occupants inside an upside down 2012 Chevrolet Camaro.

The passenger, Daryel Ledet, 35, St. Martinville, was removed from the vehicle, and the driver, Darryel Ledet, 59, St. Martinville, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extracted. He was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation and alcohol and speed are both suspected to be a factor. Charges are pending while deputies await the outcome of the toxicology results.
