St. Martinville Shooting Claims One Life

St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Ginny Higgins says one woman is dead and another in the hospital after police alleged that Donovan Kennedy fired shots during a domestic disturbance last night.

Police got a call around 9:45 last night that shots had been heard on Orphe Raod in St. Martinville.

Deputies found two women, a 19-year-old and 20-year-old, both shot.  The 20-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators have arrested 25-year-old Donovan Kennedy on the following charges:

One count Second Degree Murder in violation of LA. R.S. 14:30.1

One count Attempted Second Degree Murder in violation of LA. R.S. 14:27:30.1

Police say they are still investigating the case.
