St. Martinville Shooting Leaves One Dead – One Injured

A domestic disturbance with shots fired was called into the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's office last night at 9:45pm.. On arrival at the home on Orphe Road in St. Martinville deputies found two women had been shot. Both victims were taken to a local hospital where the 20 year old woman was pronounced dead and the 19 year old was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A suspect was identified as 25 year old Donovan Kennedy of New Iberia and he was arrested a short time later. Kennedy has been charged with second degree murder and attempted second degree murder. No bond has been set and Kennedy remains in the St. Martin Parish jail.
