St.Mary Deputies Searching Bayou Boeuf For Drug Suspect Who Fled

The St. Mary Sheriff's office went to investigate alleged drug activity at the home of 36-year-old James Guerin of Calumet after getting a tip.

Guerin was found driving in the Morgan City area, and detectives tried to do a traffic stop, but he refused to stop.

Detectives say Guerin went into the Bayou Boeuf area and hit a parked car.  His car then hit a bunch of industrial sand bags.

Guerin went into the water, and he refused numerous calls for him to come out of the bayou.

Detectives and the Marine Division Dive Team are working with Coast Guard in the search.

The Coast Guard is shutting down the Bayou Boeuf waterway periodically as the divers continue their search.
