A St. Mary Parish Sheriff's deputy patrolling the Centerville area says he went over to talk to the driver of a car parked in the lot of business that has closed for the night.

The deputy says when the man saw him approach, he sped away.

The officer was finally able to pull over 47-year-old Willie Vallet Jr.

There were several warrants out for Vallet's arrest:

  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of aggravated flight from an officer where human life is in danger, reckless operation of a vehicle, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family

The deputy arrested Vallet and took him to the parish jail.
